2017 is off and running! April 29th and 30th marked the official start of our NYRCHA show season. The 29th was a herd work clinic with Joel Cohen, owner of Silver Creek Stables in Pittsford, NY. Joel, a NCHA Non-pro Hall of Fame Inductee, shared his decades of knowledge with both a morning and afternoon group participants. The clinic was full, with a mix of familiar faces and some new ones. I think everyone had an enjoyable day and were able to take something away to help them in the upcoming show season. I want to extend an HUGE thank you to Joel and his wife Judy for hosting this clinic at their facility, it was a pleasure to meet them and their family.
The 30th was our first show held at Rose Hill Ranch in Naples, NY, owned by Jack and Emma Minteer. The Minteer's graciously allowed us to use their facility when we unexpectedly had to change venues. We had a great turn out for our first show of the season. The herd work classes were a hit and our walk trot was one of our largest classes of the day. It was great to see so many youths taking an interest in reined cowhorse. I want to give a BIG thank you to everyone who helped make this first show a success and to the members who stayed and helped tear down afterwards. I also want to thank our board who all worked very hard to make sure we all have somewhere to show our cowhorses.
We have an exciting and busy season ahead of us with 2 more clinics and 8 more shows planned. We are always in need of volunteers for set up and running the shows. If you think you could help at any of our shows please contact one of us on the board.
To qualify for a year end award, you must show at least half of the shows(5). Last year we gave out 8 High Point Champion buckles. This year, there will be more opportunities with our Green Rider division expanded to have each Green Rider class  qualifying for their own buckle. So get your horses tuned up and head for our next show. Check our web site and FaceBook for current updates and show schedule. I hope to see you all at our Caze show May 27th & 28th!

     Sincerely Your President,
                                         Joe Decker
