President’s Message:

Our 2018 season is off and running! Our first event of the year was our Green Rider Clinic held on April 21st and Good to Be Green Show on April 22nd at Rose Hill Ranch in Naples, NY. We had 16 riders in the clinic, many of them trying cow horse for the first time. We expected the show to be small, but we had a great turnout with 17 entries in Green Rider 1 and 10-13 entries in several others classes. Holly Shockro, from Massachusetts, won a pair of custom spur straps for the Stockman’s Championship. Marie Dougherty from Belmont, NY, won the drawing for a Don Rich headstall. We will be giving away a Don Rich headstall at each of our shows this year. For every class you enter, you get a ticket and at the end of the day we draw a winner! It was great to see so many new faces at our first show. Welcome to all our new members!
I would like to thank Jack and Emma Minteer for hosting this show and doing the clinic for us.

Our second event of the year was the Darren Bilyea clinic in Kent, NY on May 12th and 13th. This was a clinic for more advanced riders and was well attended with 16 riders working on boxing and fencing. Although it was a little cold, everyone had a great time working the flag and live cattle. A Big Thank You goes to Cindy Pfeifer for organizing this clinic and providing the delicious food for breakfast and lunch. Also, thank you Darren Bilyea for coming down from Canada to share his knowledge and put on a very informative clinic. Last but not least, a big Thank You to Darren Roberts for hosting the clinic at his farm. His arena was EXCELLENT with the best footing I have seen in an outdoor pen!

Your Board of Directors are working very hard to provide clinics and shows for the membership. We are trying the give you the best shows possible and continue to give our members an opportunity to experience reined cow horse in the North East. Without this dedicated group these shows would not be possible.  I look forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming shows at Cazenovia, NY.

Respectfully Yours

With the Cowgirl Classic behind us Cazenovia is officially finished for 2018.  What a hot summer we had in beautiful quaint Cazenovia.  Hoss's Ridge came through for us with panels and cows!  What would we do with out them.  Results and judges cards will be posted shortly .

What's Next?
Two days before the last show it was brought to our attention that Fonda Fairgrounds was available for use Columbus Day weekend.  With a little leg work and lots of team work we were able to make it happen:  Woohoo...So that means we are moving to Fonda for October 6th & 7th.  We are still working on details...but pretty much same show different location!    I can tell you that there is Full hook up for the campers!
Whats the Stockman Challenge?
Run on Saturdays only ~ high point from 3 Ranch horse and one bridle class~any level~winner gets...wait and see!  Winner of our Cowgirl Classic Stockman Challenge was Holly Shockro.  Holly won a pair of Don Rich's split reins.

Year End Award Correction.....

It was brought to our attention there was a typo in the results for 2017 year end awards~it happens and we apologize.  Emma Minteer was Open Bridle Champion, not Limited Open Bridle Champion.  Joe Decker was Reserve Open Bridle not Reserve Limited Open Bridle.

Congratulations to Wendy Kuhn and Missy Lights (aka Bella) on winning the NRCHA National 1K Non-Pro Limited Championship.

You two make a great team!
