New York Reined
Cow Horse Association

Hey Cow~Horse people, here we are almost at the halfway point in our show season with four shows behind us and five to go. We had a good show at Caz on Memorial Day weekend. Entries were up and there were a number of new faces.  There were exhibitors from New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Canada. The early set-up on Thursday evening made it  better for riders wanting to get in the arena on Friday to school their horses. A big thank you to Dave Brown for his help setting up panels and lending the hay feeders. As well as Mike Bednarek for lending us his round panels. Lauren and Jacob Partridge’s plan to stabilize the panels and keep the up straight worked great. A huge thanks to Lauren, Jacob, Scott and Robin Waite, and Tom Decker for staying and helping tear down Sunday. As always, Cindy in the office and Lisa running everywhere else kept the show moving smoothly all weekend.
Our Hoss’ Ridge Show, June 11th, was small but still managed to make a little money. We had some new people trying Cow Horse for the first time, showing a still growing interest in our sport.
Our next show will be a two day sanctioned show on July 22nd and 23rd in Caz. We will be doing early set-up on the 20th around 6pm and would appreciate help. A few reminders: You must ride a minimum of half the shows a class is offered to qualify for year-end awards, that’s at least five shows so there is still time to get qualified. Get your stall reservations to Lisa ASAP.  At sanctioned shows the dress code applies to the warm-up pen as well as the show ring. We should all be wearing long sleeved shirts. Finally, this year we are offering a Cowboy Collection Jeff Smith saddle to the high point rider in the 1K Limitednon-pro division. This class is offered six times this year and you must ride at least three times to qualify for the saddle. There are still four shows left so there is still time to win the saddle!!!!
I hope to see you all at our next show. As always, please contact myself or any of our board members if you have any questions.
               Sincerely your president,
                                             Joe Decker
